Welcome to the Angel on the Bridge - Pub & Restaurant - Henley on Thames.
The earliest known origins of The Angel on the Bridge date back to 1728. Mary Simmons, a maltster took on the first lease of the pub on the 8th of August in this year and held it for 11 years. Since then there have been 51 landlords in the pubs 279 years.
The Angel - Henley on Thames
In 1984 when The Carpenters Arms on the Berkshire side of the river was demolished to make way for what is now Regatta headquarters on the south east end of  the bridge, a flint and stone arch was discovered. This arch mirrored one which forms part of the cellar in the Angel dating back to around 1170 and formed the foundation of what was the original wooden bridge until 1786 when the current bridge was built.
